To receive an official course certificate from Lingu, you must complete at least your minimum required hours for your PR application (either 250 or 225 total learning hours). These hours must follow a specific ratio between live, teacher-led classes and self-study activities on our learning platform (LMS).
The 2:10 Rule
For every 10 hours of self-study, you must also complete at least 2 hours of live, teacher-led classes.
This means that:
1 out of every 6 hours must be a live class.
Put another way, live classes should make up at least 16.7% of your total learning time.
Hours for Certificate Eligibility Summary:
To qualify for a course certificate:
If you must complete a minimum of 250 total hours of study...
Out of those 250 hours, at least ~42 hours must be from live, teacher-led sessions...
The rest (about 208 hours) can come from completing self-study modules in your LMS
What if I did more live classes in A1 and fewer in A2?
No problem! The 2:10 ratio applies to your total hours across the entire course (e.g., both A1 and A2 combined). If you did more live classes earlier, that can count toward your total—as long as the final overall balance meets the required ratio.
Example:
If you've completed:
140 hours total so far, with 50 hours from live classes
→ You’re on track, because your live class hours are well above the 2:10 ratio.
If you're now working through A2 and plan to complete 110 more hours:
You will need at least 18–20 of those hours to be live classes (to stay balanced across the full 250 hours).
